BPL 2023: Journalist’s ‘Broken English’ Confuses Cricketers, Causes Internet to Laugh Out Loud (LOL)

Comilla Victorians secured their second consecutive Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) championship title in a thrilling final against Sylhet Strikers. The match was held at the Shere Bangla Stadium, where Imrul Kayes led his team to a spectacular victory.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, the top scorer of the tournament, put up a valiant effort for Sylhet, scoring 64 runs to help his team reach a total of 175. Along with Shanto, the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim played a brilliant innings, scoring 74 runs off 48 balls.

In response, the Victorians got off to a strong start despite losing Sunil Narine and captain Imrul Kayes early on. Liton Das and Johnson Charles then formed a solid partnership for the third wicket before Liton was caught on Ruble Hossian’s delivery. Moeen Ali then stepped in to ease the pressure from Charles and scored a quick 25 runs off just 17 deliveries.

However, amidst the post-final celebrations, a Bangladeshi journalist interviewing the champion players made headlines for all the wrong reasons. The journalist struggled with his English language skills, causing confusion among the players.

Even international players like Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Moeen Ali were unable to understand what the journalist was asking them. The interviewer’s poor communication skills made it difficult for him to convey his simple questions to the players, and he ended up saying, “Final match your performance what happening” repeatedly, confusing the players.

Despite the awkward exchange, the players maintained their composure and answered the questions calmly.

Comilla Victorians emerged as worthy champions of the BPL 2023, and their victory will be remembered as one of the most exciting matches in the tournament’s history. While the post-final interview created some amusement on social media, it’s essential to remember that language barriers can be challenging, and we should strive to be more patient and understanding with those who may not have the same level of proficiency as us.
