Danny Morrison, the former New Zealand cricketer and popular broadcaster, has once again found himself in the midst of a controversy. Morrison, who is part of the broadcasting team for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023, lifted Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting’s wife, Erin Holland, during the pre-match chat show before the game between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United on March 5. The incident went viral on social media, with cricket fans trolling Morrison for his actions.

However, this is not the first time that Morrison has been involved in such acts. He had lifted a cheerleader on his shoulders during an Indian Premier League (IPL) game and had grabbed well-known broadcaster Karishma Kotak by her waist in the past. Morrison is known for his unusual and funny antics, which often grab the attention of cricket fans.
As for the game itself, Quetta Gladiators posted a competitive total of 179 runs in their 20 overs, with all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz anchoring the innings and scoring a crucial 52. Najibullah Zadran smashed 59 off 34 deliveries, while Umar Akmal chipped in with a quick-fire 43. Left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi took 3 vital wickets, while Faheem Ashraf also grabbed a couple of wickets.
In response, Islamabad United’s batter Colin Munro played a stellar knock of 63 runs off just 29 deliveries, hitting four maximums. He got enough support from Azam Khan and Faheem Ashraf, who scored 35 and 39 respectively. Pacer Umaid Asif took 3 crucial wickets as the Quetta franchise tried restricting Islamabad United from chasing the total. However, the Islamabad batters chased down the total with 2 wickets remaining.
This was Gladiators’ sixth loss in their 7 games, after which they have been placed at the bottom of the PSL 2023 points table. On the other hand, Islamabad United have won 5 out of their 7 games and are placed at the second position. The PSL has been a great platform for young talent to showcase their skills, and it has been entertaining cricket fans across the globe.
