In a recent Pakistan Super League game, Islamabad United fast bowler Hasan Ali and Rassie van der Dussen from South Africa made an incredible catch that left the cricket world in awe. The duo combined to dismiss Karachi Kings’ Irfan Khan with a catch that can only be described as breathtaking.
Hasan Ali and Rassie van der Dussen’s Epic Catch
It all began when Tom Curran delivered a ball to Irfan Khan, who unfortunately mistimed his shot, causing the ball to fly high up in the air. Hasan Ali sprinted towards the boundary and made a remarkable diving catch to grab the ball. However, he quickly realized that he was about to cross the boundary rope, so he quickly threw the ball back to van der Dussen while still in the air. Van der Dussen, who was stationed at the long-on position, made no mistake and completed the catch, dismissing Irfan Khan for 30 runs. The crowd erupted in applause, and cricket enthusiasts worldwide praised the duo’s incredible effort.

Although the catch was the highlight of the game, it was an intense match overall, with both teams putting on an impressive display. The Kings had posted an impressive total of 201/5 on the board in the first innings, thanks to a blistering knock from skipper Imad Wasim, who scored 92 runs off just 54 deliveries. Wasim remained unbeaten at the end of the innings and hit 11 boundaries and two towering sixes.
In reply, United had a daunting task ahead of them, chasing a massive total in just 20 overs. However, they were up for the challenge, with wicket-keeper batter Azam Khan leading the charge. Khan scored an unbeaten 72 runs off 41 balls, hitting eight boundaries and four massive sixes in his innings. His partnership with Asif Ali, who scored 43 runs off just 14 balls, proved crucial in their side’s victory. United chased down the mammoth total with four balls remaining and won by six wickets, a remarkable feat.
Post-Match
Azam Khan, who received the Player Of the Match award, attributed his performance to his practice sessions and his confidence in his teammate, Asif Ali. “I think it is all about practice. I try to keep calm in the practice games back in Karachi. I was confident about Asif. He took out some pressure from me,” he said.
