The second T20 match of the three-match series was played between Team India and New Zealand at Ekna Stadium in Lucknow. However, chasing just 100, there was a terrible mix-up between Surya Kumar Yadav and Washington Sundar, which ended in the latter’s dismissal.
After winning the toss, Kiwi captain Mitchell Santer decided to bat first due to the twist on the pitch. However, he could only manage 99 runs at the loss of 8 wickets.
Bowled by Glenn Phillips in the 15th over of the chase, Suryakumar Yadav attempted a reverse sweep but only managed to hit the pads a few times and the ball rolled towards point. Even as New Zealand appealed for lbw, Yadav pulled away for a single. It must be Washington’s call, but he continues to run even when Washington holds his hand.
In the end, Washington Sundar decided to sacrifice himself. The third umpire is called to check whether they have crossed. He also checks the lbw, which looks a bit gloved.
