INDW vs AUSW | Twitter reacts to Harmanpreet Kaur’s anger over umpire’s for five-wide call
When players see that things are not going in their team’s favour, they often lose their temper. Such an incident happened when Harmanpreet Kaur could not control her emotions after Tahlia McGrath was given five wides by the umpire during Australia’s innings despite being so high on the crease.
Already trailing 1-0 in the five-match T20I series, the Indian women bowlers failed to live up to expectations against Australia in the second match played at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Sunday. , Beth Mooney scored 82* off 54 balls and Tahlia McGrath scored 70* off 51 balls to end on 187/1. Although the performance of the Indian bowlers was completely forgettable, an incident during the last over of Australia’s innings made matters worse.

Aiming to end things on a good note, Renuka Singh Thakur comes in to bowl the 20th over. After seeing Tahlia McGrath going well across the line, Renuka tried to follow her, only to have the ball go out of bounds. Although the ball was very close to McGrath, the on-field umpires Gayatri Venugopalan and Vrinda Rathi gave wide after discussion. Apart from this, keeper Richa Ghosh also did not get a chance to stop the ball, due to which Australia got five bonus runs.
However, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur along with Renuka were not happy with the umpire’s decision. He went to Venugopalan to express his views about the decision, saying that McGrath was overbearing. Nevertheless, Venugopalan, with a smile on his face, told them why she had taken this decision, which did not comfort the Indians at all.
