Ishan Kishan created history in Chittagong yesterday as he became the youngest player to score a double century in the history of ODI cricket. The left-handed batsman scored 210 runs in 131 balls, thereby also setting a new record for the fastest double century by a player in the history of ODI cricket.
Kishan opened the innings with Shikhar Dhawan after Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The Indian team got off to a slow start, adding just 17 runs in the first five overs as the experienced Dhawan failed to score big.
Number three batsman Virat Kohli was joined by Ishan Kishan in the middle and the duo destroyed the Bangladeshi bowling line-up. Liton Das dropped a catch of Kohli when he was on one and Kohli paid for it with his 44th ODI hundred.

Ishan Kishan got a chance to play in the place captain Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the third ODI against Bangladesh due to injury. He took full advantage of the golden opportunity by scoring a double century.
Here’s what Kishan said in conversation with the host broadcaster after his 210 against the Bangladesh cricket team in his first ODI:
“I’m thankful for the opportunity that I got to play and that I got runs for the team. The wicket was too good to bat on. I decided if it was there I was going to go for it. My intent was very clear to go for it.”
