IND vs NZ: The Indian cricket team took on the New Zealand cricket team in the first ODI on Wednesday, 18 January. Furthermore, the match was taking place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, India.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, India. The Men in Blue got off to a blistering start in the first ODI against New Zealand.
Both Rohit Sharma and Shibman Gill shared a 60-run partnership for the first wicket. But Rohit Sharma got out after scoring 34 runs in 38 balls while Virat Kohli got out after scoring 8 runs in 10 balls.
Ishan Kishan was also unhappy at the crease as Lockie Ferguson dismissed him for just 5 runs off 14 balls. Wickets kept falling continuously after the dismissal of Surya Kumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.
But Shubman Gill kept running like a rock against the Kiwi team. He scored 208 runs in 149 balls at a strike rate of 139.60. Shubman Gill hit 19 fours and 9 sixes.
The Men in Blue scored 349 runs for the loss of eight wickets in fifty overs against New Zealand. The Tom Latham-led side had a mountain to climb but did well to come close.

The Men in Blue put up a strong bowling effort against New Zealand. He won the first ODI not only with the bat but also with the bowling.
Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Shibman Gill were talking on air after the match. Rohit Sharma asked Ishan, you missed three matches even after scoring 200 runs. Then Ishaan replied saying that you were the captain.
