‘I am allowed to catch the ball’ – Jos Buttler gets into heated exchange with Rassie van der Dussen

England captain Jos Buttler got into an argument with South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen.

South Africa beat England by 5 wickets in the second ODI played in Bloemfontein to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series.

During the second ODI, England captain Jos Buttler got into a heated argument with South African batsman Rashi van der Dussen.

Umpires intervened when Jos Buttler and Rassie van der Dussen got into a verbal spat

The 2nd ODI between South Africa and England was thrilling as players from both the sides gave their 100% to seal the game for their respective teams. The match played in Bloemfontein saw some tense moments between the players of both the sides.

During the 19th over of South Africa’s innings, England captain Jos Buttler had an altercation with South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen when he attempted to run out Roper.

England leg-spinner Adil Rashid bowls a googly to deceive Rassie van der Dussen. The ball took the inside edge of the rope bat and then hit his pads before bouncing in the air. When Jos Buttler tried to reach the ball, he felt the wicket but was stopped by the South African batsman and hence could not complete the catch.

“I’m trying to get the ball,” Butler said. “What’s your problem rope? It’s not about you all the time.” Van der Dussen then replied: “No, it’s about you.”

“I’m allowed to try to catch the ball,” Butler said. “What do you want from me?”

At this point the umpires intervened, with one of them shouting: “Okay, calm down!”

Talking about the match, England batsmen posted a mammoth score of 342-7, with Jos Buttler scoring an unbeaten 94 off 82 balls. He was ably supported by young Harry Brook who scored 80 off 75 balls.

The South African batsmen ensured that they matched the required run rate throughout the innings and completed the chase with 5 balls to spare. Captain Temba Boma scored a brilliant century while all the other Proteas batsmen batted around him and successfully completed the chase.
