Shikhar Dhawan, the renowned Indian batter and captain of the Punjab Kings in the upcoming IPL 2023, recently shared an interesting anecdote related to one of his tattoos. In a candid interview with Aaj Tak, Dhawan disclosed that he got a tattoo on his back when he was 14-15 years old during a trip to Manali without informing his family. However, he had to keep it hidden for three to four months until his father found out and beat him.

“When I was 14-15 years old, I had gone to Manali and had got a tattoo done on my back without informing my family members. I had to hide it for quite some time, about 3-4 months, and then when my father got to know, he beat me,” Dhawan revealed on Aaj Tak.

Dhawan also revealed that he went for an HIV test soon after getting the tattoo because he was scared of the needle and unsure about how many bodies it had pierced. Fortunately, the test was negative, and he hasn’t contracted the virus to this day.

“I got a bit scared after doing the tattoo because I had no clue about the number of bodies that needle had pierced. So then I went and did my HIV Test and it’s negative to date (laughs),” Shikhar further added.

“My first tattoo, on my back, was a Scorpio. Because at that time, that was my thought. Then I made a design on it. I also got a tattoo of Lord Shiva in my hand. I also got a tattoo of Arjun, he was our best archer,” the star opener further said about his tattoo.

Apart from the tattoo on his back, Dhawan also has a tattoo of Lord Shiva on his hand and one of Arjun, the legendary archer from the Indian epic Mahabharata.

Currently, Dhawan is out of the Indian squad after registering three consecutive single-digit scores in the ODI series against Bangladesh. However, he has a remarkable record in ICC events for Team India and will aim to make a comeback to the national side by performing consistently for his IPL franchise.

Meanwhile, the Indian team management is exploring young opening batters for the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have been given opportunities alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, and Gill seems to be the preferred choice for the opening slot due to his consistent performances.

As for Dhawan, he will lead the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023 and hopes to continue his exceptional performance in the league.
