IND vs SL : 1st T20I, Highlights: Deepak Hooda’s superb innings, debutant Shivam Mavi’s four-wicket haul helped Team India to register a 2-run win over Sri Lanka in the first T20I played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Asked to bat first, Team India lost a few wickets in quick succession before Hooda (41*) and Akshar Patel (31*) took Team India to 162/5 in 20 overs.
Chasing 163, Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals but Chamika Karunaratne scored an unbeaten 23. However, the visitors fell short by 2 runs as they were bundled out for 160 off the last ball. Apart from this, Dasan Shanaka scored 45 runs. Umran Malik and Harshal Patel took two wickets each for India. Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Sri Lanka were impressive with the ball in the first T20I against India as they restricted the opposition to 101/5 in 15 overs at the Wankhede Stadium. Mahesh Thikshana was impressive with his bowling, conceding only 29 runs and taking one wicket. The spinner is known for his variations but he surprised everyone in the game by using pace as his weapon to bring down Hardik Pandya.
Theekshana was bowling the 13th over of the innings and Hardik was trying to change gears. However, the bowler was aware of the batsman’s intention and came up with a brilliant plan. Theekshana lofted the last ball of the over into the block hole. The ball swings late and Hardik has trouble digging it out.

Ind vs SL 2023 | Ishan Kishan’s Flying Catch
Nothing can be more beautiful for a captain than watching one of his fielders field brilliantly. Hardik Pandya proved the same when he showed his happiness with an infectious smile and the crowd also applauded loudly after Ishan Kishan took a Flying diving catch.
After India posted a first innings total of 162/5, They kept Sri Lanka under pressure and took the team to 4/57 inside nine overs in the first T20I. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Mavi were impressive from the start. Umran Malik also bowled very well, troubling the batsmen with his Dangerous pace, but a sensational fielding effort from Ishan Kishan got him his first wicket.
Umran was bowling the eighth over of the innings and Charith Asalanka was facing the fifth ball. The bowler bowled the ball short and Asalanka instinctively tried to pull it. A thick upper edge flies towards the fine leg region and Ishan Kishan takes an unreal catch. He ran to the edge of the 30-yard circle and made a spectacular end-dive to complete the catch.
Responding to Kishan’s brilliant performance, skipper Hardik Pandya laughed in surprise. Also, there was a loud cheer from the crowd for the exceptional fielding effort.
