The ongoing one-day International series between India and Australia is currently underway, with the penultimate match taking place in Vizag city. With both teams boasting of some of the best cricketing talent in the world, this series has been highly anticipated. The Indian team currently leads the series 1-0 following their emphatic victory in the series opener in Mumbai. Australia, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back with a win in this match to stay in contention for the series.
“The pitch has been under the covers for a long time, we got to bat well and see where we are. Every game you play for India is a pressure game, so you got to stay calm and make the right decision. We have tried to remain calm in the last few ODI series we have played.” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma at the toss
Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first, which proved to be a good decision as the visitors managed to register three dismissals in the first six overs of the game. India’s scorecard currently displays 34/3, with Sharma, Gill, and Yadav all losing their wickets. Premier Australian pacer Mitchell Starc was the bowler who claimed all three wickets, continuing his impressive form.
Young opener Shubman Gill suffered a soft dismissal after attempting a cover drive against Starc’s out-swinging delivery. The ball found the fielder at point, resulting in an easy catch and a crucial dismissal for Australia. This was Gill’s second failure in the ongoing series, having been dismissed for just 20 runs in the first match. Gill, who recently scored a record-breaking ODI double-century against New Zealand, will have to come up with multiple notable performances to retain his place in the Indian lineup.
