Ind vs Sl – 1st ODI : Indian national cricket team’s 28-year-old fast bowler Mohammad Siraj defeated 27-year-old Sri Lanka national cricket team batsman Kusal Mendis in the opening match of the ODI series on Tuesday, January 10.

The 1st ODI of the three match series between the Indian national cricket team led by Rohit Sharma and the Sri Lankan national cricket team led by Dasan Shanaka is currently underway at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Siraj got India off to a great start in the match while defending a big total. He dismissed Ayushka Fernando for 5 runs in the fourth over and then sent Mendis back for 4 runs in the 6th over.

On the third ball of the sixth over, Siraj hit a sensational good length delivery clocking 142.1 kmph and he made a quick comeback. The Sri Lankan batsmen failed to read the pace of the ball and went for the drive and hit the inside edge and the ball broke the stumps.

Mendis had a very poor day on the field in the Guwahati ODI. In the first innings, the wicketkeeper drop a beautiful catch of Virat Kohli behind the wickets and then got out without scoring any runs.

Since his debut in international cricket, Mendis has registered 27 ducks, the joint-highest with Jonny Bairstow. He is followed by Moeen Ali and Kagiso Rabada in the list with 25 and 24 ducks respectively.

Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited India to bat first. The decision backfired as the Men in Blue posted 373/7 on the board.

After electing to bat first and scoring 404 in the first innings, India got off to a good start against Bangladesh in the first Test at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. They got rid of Najmul Hossain Shanto without troubling the scorers, thanks to a delivery by Mohammed Siraj across the off-stump line that was too hot for the Bangladeshi opener.

Shantu’s leg didn’t move at all before the thick edge hit the inside of the ball, which went out of the hands of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Pant dives to his left and takes a comfortable catch to complete the wicket. The Indian players, after being dismissed, were jubilant at drawing so quickly for the first time, and people on social media praised Siraj for his peachy opening spell.

2. BAN vs IND | Mohammed Siraj came out with the best revenge by cleaning up Litton Das after a war of words

Siraj-revenge

Players show their patience and perseverance in Test cricket, and that combination of skills is what separates the greats from the rest. However, after a heated exchange of words with the Indian pacer at Chattogram on Thursday, Litton Das failed to secure his wicket to Mohammad Siraj on the next ball.

After India’s mammoth first innings total of 404, Bangladesh failed to reply in the first Test at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. They were down to 39/2 after 13 overs, with Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav doing the best for India. Both wickets fell within four overs when Bangladesh had five runs on board, before Litton Das and Zakir Hasan stabilized the innings.

However, this partnership did not last long, courtesy of a foolishly unnecessary gesture by the Litton Das. The Bangladeshi wicket-keeper batsman defended Mohammad Siraj on the backfoot during the 14th over without scoring any runs. After the ball, Siraj had a few words for Litton Das, to which he responded by pointing, “I didn’t hear anything, what are you saying?”

Siraj didn’t respond to Liton’s gusture and what he did on the next ball got a lot of attention. The right-arm fastball bowled at 141 kmph which was kept down. Liton could not bring his bat down in time as a result of which the ball kept breaking the stumps. Soon after his prized wicket, Siraj put his fingers to his lips to celebrate his wicket.
