In the second ODI of the 3-match series between Bangladesh and England, the latter emerged victorious by 132 runs after scoring an imposing total of 326 runs. However, the match witnessed a hilarious moment when Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal took a terrible DRS call against England’s Adil Rashid, which has gone viral on social media.
England’s opening batsman Jason Roy played a scintillating knock of 132 runs off just 124 deliveries, putting his team in a commanding position. Bangladesh, after winning the toss, invited England to bat first, which turned out to be a big mistake.
When England had crossed the 300 mark in the 48th over, Bangladesh’s pacer Taskin Ahmed bowled a perfect yorker to Adil Rashid, which the latter blocked comfortably with his bat. To everyone’s surprise, Bangladesh fielders, including skipper Tamim Iqbal, started appealing for Leg Before Wicket.
However, the on-field umpire rejected the appeal, and Tamim Iqbal decided to call for the Decision Review System (DRS), confident of getting the dismissal. But, the DRS made it clear that the ball had clearly made contact with Adil Rashid’s bat and was nowhere close to the pad.
The strange DRS review by Tamim Iqbal left fans in splits, with a few cricket fans terming it as the ‘Worst DRS Appeal Of The Year.’ The incident highlighted the importance of making informed decisions while using DRS, which can turn the course of the game.

Coming back to the game, England posted a mammoth total of 326 runs, thanks to Jason Roy’s brilliant knock and English skipper Jos Buttler’s quick-fire 76 off just 64 balls. Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed took 3 crucial wickets, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed a couple of wickets.
In response to England’s massive total, the Bangladesh side struggled throughout their innings, failing to gain any momentum. Shakib Al Hasan was the highest run-getter for Bangladesh, scoring 58 runs, while Tamim Iqbal contributed 35 runs. Ultimately, Bangladesh fell short by 132 runs, allowing England their second victory in the series.
England’s all-rounder Sam Curran was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 4 important wickets, while leggie Adil Rashid grabbed 4 wickets as well. Jason Roy was adjudged the Player of the Match for his stellar knock of 132 runs, which put the English side in the driver’s seat.
