The fourth Test between India and Australia was heading towards a draw on the final day, as Australia batted in their second innings. While Australian opener Travis Head was batting in the crease, an appeal was made for leg before. Indian bowlers had struggled to get wickets, and the two batsmen, Head and Marnus Labuschagne, had made sure that they did not lose any early wickets in the first session.
However, the Indian team was hopeful when veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin almost trapped Head while he was batting on 41 runs. Indian captain Rohit Sharma took a chance and went upstairs for the review. Luckily for the batter, the ball was not completely hitting the stumps, and he was saved.
But in the 14th over of the second innings, an incident happened that made former Indian captain Virat Kohli furious. Nitin Menon, who was umpiring at that moment, gave a “not out” decision, as the ball was not properly hitting the stumps, and in such cases, the on-field umpire’s decision is considered the final call.
This decision made Kohli mock the umpire, saying “Mai Hota toh Out Deta” on the field. This sentence means “If I was batting, he would have given me out.” It was clear that Kohli didn’t like Menon, and he voiced his frustration on the field.

Australia was on the verge of playing out a draw in Ahmedabad, and the Indian team was looking totally frustrated in Narendra Modi Stadium as the Aussie batters were looking solid in the middle. The pitch was favoring the batters, and the bowlers were barely getting any assistance from the surface.
Travis Head, who had opened the innings with Matt Kuhneman on the previous day, reached the 90-run mark on the final day. He went for a big drive against Axar Patel but got out in the process as his inside edge crashed onto the stumps. On the other hand, his partner Marnus Labuschagne was not looking in any mood to play any rash shots.
Australia easily drew the test match, and India won the series 2-1.
The incident on the field between Kohli and Menon is not the first time that Kohli has become a victim of Menon’s wrong decisions. In the past, Menon’s umpiring has caused frustration for Kohli, who is known for his passion and intensity on the field.
Kohli’s frustration with Menon is not unique to him. In cricket, umpires’ decisions can often be the subject of controversy and debate. Fans and players alike can become emotional and express their views on the field, as seen in this case.
