Watch Video : Virat Kohli Unhappy with LBW Dismissal Despite Taking DRS: India on Backfoot in Second Test against Australia

India and Australia are currently battling it out in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, with India looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. However, the hosts were put on the backfoot after losing two quick wickets in the form of Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli. Kohli, who came in to bat at No. 4, played a well-made 44 but his dismissal has created a lot of controversy.

The incident happened in the 50th over when Kohli was deceived by Matthew Kuhnemann’s arm ball. The Indian skipper immediately went for a review, giving the impression of edging the ball. However, the replays showed that there was no conclusive evidence as to whether the ball hit the bat or the pad first. Despite this, the third umpire did not overturn the on-field umpire’s decision, and Kohli had to walk back to the pavilion.

Kohli was visibly unhappy with the decision, and his dismissal could prove costly for India’s chances of taking a first-innings lead. To achieve this, the Indian lower-order, led by Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin, will need to make significant contributions.

Australia, on the other hand, made 263 runs in their first innings, with Peter Handscomb playing a brilliant knock of 72 runs. Had it not been for his contribution, the visitors would have been bundled out for under 200 runs. Nathan Lyon was the pick of the Australian bowlers, taking five wickets off the seven to fall for India.

The Indian team was left reeling at 66/4 owing to a brilliant spell by the Australian bowlers in the first session of Day 2, after a cautious start from a position of 46/2. With Australia trailing 1-0 in the series, they will be looking to take advantage of their strong position in the second Test.
