Karachi Kings have had a rough start to their Pakistan Super League 2023 campaign, losing four out of their first five games in the season. Their latest defeat came against Multan Sultans in a thrilling encounter on February 22, where they failed to chase down a target of 197 runs set by the opposition.
The frustration of Karachi Kings’ team management, including president and legendary Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram, was visible after the match. Akram was seen kicking chairs in the dressing room in a rare display of losing his cool. The defeat was particularly hard to swallow for Karachi Kings, as it was their third loss in the last over of the match.
Karachi Kings skipper Imad Wasim faced the last delivery of the innings, needing five runs to win, but he couldn’t clear the fence. This left the team short of their target and Akram visibly angry. In contrast, Multan Sultans’ Abbas Afridi was under immense pressure while bowling the last over, which resulted in him delivering an above waist height full toss, that Imad Wasim dispatched for a maximum. Ben Cutting also contributed to the chase, hitting a six off the second delivery of Afridi’s over.

However, things took a turn for the worse for Karachi Kings when Afridi dismissed Cutting on the fourth delivery, leaving the team needing a maximum off the last ball. Imad Wasim was unable to deliver the six, which resulted in Akram losing his temper and kicking chairs in frustration.
