IND vs NZ: Hardik Pandya in controversy after doubtful dismissal
Hardik Pandya was controversially dismissed during the first India vs New Zealand one-day international on Wednesday after the bails were removed without the ball hitting the stumps.
So, it was in the 40th over of India’s innings. Daryl Mitchell bowls the length ball. The ball missed Pandya’s bat.
Hardik Pandya tries to tap Daryl Mitchell at deep third but checks his shot at the last moment. The bail was dismissed after the ball went dangerously close to the stumps.
This forced the on-field umpire to refer the decision to TV umpire Ananth Padmanabhan.
On further review, it appeared that wicket-keeper Tom Latham, who was standing up to the stumps, had his gloves too close to the bails.
After the ball went over the stumps and hit the gloves of Latham, Bales was seen to falter which eventually led to Hardik’s dismissal.
Eyebrows raised. Questions were asked. But as is the nature of the game, the umpire’s decision during play is final.
But, in this modern age where the audience reacts instantly to the power of social media.
This strange style of Hardik Pandya in the first ODI of IND vs NZ series. urged supporters as well as critics to question the third umpire’s decision.
