The Legends League Cricket Masters 2023 has started with a bang, and the opening match between Asia Lions and India Maharajas was nothing short of exciting. Asia Lions won the match by nine runs, and their skipper Shahid Afridi was over the moon with the victory.

After the match, Afridi went on to embrace former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, and then, in a moment of excitement, he almost hugged the female umpire. However, he quickly backed off and shook her hand instead, narrowly avoiding a controversy.

The incident was captured on camera, and the video quickly went viral on social media platforms, leaving netizens in splits. This is not the first time Afridi has found himself in the middle of a controversy, but this time, he managed to steer clear of it.

As for the match, Asia Lions posted a competitive total of 165-6 in their 20 overs, thanks to Upul Tharanga’s anchoring innings and Misbah Ul Haq’s scintillating knock of 73 runs off just 50 deliveries. In response, India Maharajas could only manage to score 156 runs in their 20 overs, falling short of the target by nine runs.

Gautam Gambhir was the only Indian batsman who managed to score a half-century, while Sohail Tanvir was the pick of the Asia Lions bowlers, taking three wickets and making sure that India Maharajas fell short of the target.

Parvinder Awana and Stuart Binny took two wickets each for India Maharajas, while Irfan Pathan and Ashok Dinda took one wicket each.
