Big Bash League 2023 is about to end and the season is full of exciting action. On 22 January, the Brisbane Heat hosted the Melbourne Stars in their second-to-last league game of the season.
Brisbane Heat won the toss and decided to bat first at the Gabba. Heats put up a respectable target of 188 on the board with the help of Sam Hein’s unbeaten 73 off 41 balls. In reply, the Stars got off to a good start thanks to Tom Rogers’ 41. they match.
Marcus Stoines and Hilton Cartwright tried their best to chase but fell short by 4 runs in the end. A very funny incident happened on the field during the beginning of the second innings.

In the third over of the second innings, Rogers played a balanced punch through the covers and the fielder towards extra cover started the chase. Along with the extra cover fielder, the point fielder and the man mentioned at mid off also joined the chase.
The chase got more fun when the fielders standing in the deep point area also joined them. It was a very rare sight on the field as usually not more than 2 fielders are seen chasing the ball towards the boundary.

In the end, Matt Kunman bowled and stopped the openers from taking four runs.
Brisbane Heat will play an important match against Hobart Hurricanes on Wednesday.
The Heat have a very important game coming up this week on January 25th. His last league match will decide his future in BBL 2023. Brisbane is currently third in the points table with 13 points. If Sydney Thunders and Melbourne Renegades win their final matches on Wednesday and Brisbane lose to Hobart, their semi-final hopes will be dashed.
Brisbane Heat have a must win game in Launceston on Wednesday. A win will assure them a place in the semi-finals of BBL 2023.
